Simulator inauguration

In order to comply with IMO A 960 resolution the NC Pilot station has joined the SPSA in Nantes to become the 15th member and co-owner of a cutting edge Ship handling simulator.

Commissioned in October 2009 it is fitted with a 360° field of vision ( 280° main visual and 2 rear channels of 40 ° each), physical bridge wings with independent outside view and manoeuvring consoles. Pilotage areas, weather, current, tide and harbour facilities are replicated as per reality.

All along the year all SPSA pilot members can use this tool to test, improve or maintain their ship handler ability.

Port revel manned models

Escale a Port-Revel
Training program

For the first time in 2010 a NC pilot has taken part in the Port Revel training program just as 6000 others from all over the world ( Mainly from the USA, Canada, France and Belgium). He experienced real life situations on scaled down models similar in every respect to their real counterparts ( size, power, behavior) at a time speed 5 times faster, making the 30 hours lake hours of the week long program identical to 150 hours on a real bridge.

Basic training, emergency situations with or without tugs, pods or any specific requirement is possible and an invaluable sharing of experience with pilots dealing with specific situations in a sometimes completely different environment is made true.
